Volunteer at the Heirloom Harvest Barn Dinner, September 19th!
Chef’s Collaborative, Seacoast Eat Local, and Slow Food Seacoast are partnering again this year to hold the Heirloom Harvest Barn Dinner, hosted by the Meadow’s Mirth Farmers on Berry Hill Farm on September 19. The Heirloom Harvest Barn Dinner, part of the RAFT Heirloom Grow-Out Project, is a celebration of biodiversity, community, farmer-chef connections, and great locally grown heirloom varieties. Held in a barn at the beautiful Berry Hill Farm, diners feast on courses prepared by the finest chefs from the Seacoast area of New Hampshire. Each course features one or more RAFT heirloom vegetable varieties grown at local farms.
We would love to see some familiar faces from last year, and meet some new folks volunteering. As the event comes closer, we will form a specific schedule, in the meantime, we are looking for help in these areas:
Saturday, Sept 18: Barn clean-up for an afternoon: We’ll have a hoe-down clean-up and pizza party to prepare the beautiful barn for the next day.
Sunday, Sept 19: Barn Set-up in the morning: 9 to noonish, we’ll clean, decorate and set-up tables
Prior and During Dinner: 3pm till finished, we’ll greet and direct diners to park, serve dinner, and assist chefs.
Afterwards, all hands on deck to clean up and breakdown barn. We’ll enjoy dinner together provided by the chefs as a thank-you.
Please contact Erin Ehlers (foodguide@seacoasteatlocal.org) to sign up to help. This was a fantastic and sold-out event last year, and a great way to be involved with the local food community!
