The Maine Beekeepers Association and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension in York County are sponsoring a Bee School this fall. This 5-week introductory course on beekeeping will begin Monday, October 4:
Where: Mather Auditorium at the Wells Estuarine Research Reserve, 342 Laudholm Farm Rd, Wells, ME
When: Monday evenings 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., October 4 – November 8, 2010.
No class October 11, Columbus Day holiday.
Course Fee: $85, includes beginning beekeeping textbook and other related materials. A reduced fee of $40 may apply to one of a pair of students who elect to share the text and other materials ($125/pair).
Pre-Registration: is required by September 24

• The Honey Bee Colony
• Constructing Hives
• Spring, Summer and Fall Management
• Honey Production
• Wintering Hives
• Identification and Control of Brood Diseases
Instructor is Larry Peiffer, Vice President of the Maine State Beekeepers Association.
The course fee is $85, which includes beginning beekeeping textbook and related materials. Registration deadline is Sept. 24.
