NH Farm Museum’s Exciting Upcoming Events

The NH Farm Museum has some great events on its calendar. Here are two we haven’t shared with you yet.

October 2  Harvest Day 10 am-4 pm
Horse-drawn hayrides, harvest activities and fall fun. Press apples to make cider, try a Johnny cake, enjoy some pumpkin pie and help with the harvest. Kids can make a candle, paint a gourd, and play pumpkin games.

October 3  The Great NH Pie Festival 12 noon – 4pm
Bakers and bakeries from all over New Hampshire serve up their best pie for you to taste.  Enjoy all you can eat of all sorts of pie and vote on your favorite at this benefit event. Bring a pie to enter in our pie baking contest and win a prize. Enjoy music, hayrides, the kids apple pie eating contest, visiting the historic farmhouse and meeting the farm animals.  $10 adult, $5 child

Cooking & Wellness: Feeding the Kids!

Health and Wellness counselor, Tracey Miller, is offering a new class on healthy meal options:

 

Thinking Outside the Box: Wholesome Breakfasts and Lunches for Kids

 

A Cooking & Wellness Class on Wednesday, September 29 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm

 

Come join me for a cooking and wellness class and learn some new healthy options for feeding you and your kids!

 

Are you tired of the same old things for breakfast and lunch? Need some new ideas for healthier versions of the same old stuff? Start thinking outside the cereal box for breakfast and get some new ideas for inside the lunch box with colors, textures, and shapes that your and your kids will love. You’ll learn how to make foods “fun” without fancy packaging and lots of additives and preservatives. We’ll also discuss the latest research on harmful plastic containers and water bottles along with some creative ways to pack lunches without using things that will end up in the landfill.

 

The class will be held on Wednesday, September 29 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at 8 Wendell Drive in Brentwood, NH. (Located about 5 minutes outside of Exeter off 111A.) The fee is $40 and includes dinner (or breakfast and lunch for dinner in this case), recipes, health tips and information to last your child a lifetime! Bring a friend you you get $5 off the fee.

Bee School with the Seacoast Beekeeper’s Association

bee-on-sedum1.jpgJust think, local honey from your own backyard! The Seacoast Beekeeper’s Association is offering a 6-week course on beekeeping, beginning on October 6:

Beekeeping School offered by Seacoast NH Beekeepers Association:

 

Wednesdays October 6, 13, 20, 27, November 4 & 11 from 7 pm - 9 pm, at the Jeremiah Smith Grange, Lee, NH.

 

Some topics included: honeybee biology, equipment, products of the hive, hive management, pests and diseases.
