There are some exciting workshops already scheduled with UNH Cooperative Extension.
There is “Every Child in the Garden” on March 5th, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Massabesic Aububon Center, 26 Auburn Way, Auburn. This workshop will explore the in’s and out’s of developing and sustaining youth and school gardens in New Hampshire.
Space is limited to 35 participants. Cost will be $10 per person, including lunch. For registration information, contact Janell George at janell.george@unh.eduor 603.641.6060. There will also be a series of seven hands-on workshops sponsored by UNH Cooperative Extension and the Massabesic Audubon Center that will help you make your garden flourish this year. The series kicks off Saturday, February 12 with “Vegetable Garden Planning, Starting Plants from Seed, and Growing Transplants Indoors.” It runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Massabesic Audubon Center, 26 Auburn Way, Auburn. The workshop will provide tools and techniques to get a jump start on the season and plan for greater success in your garden.
Workshops run from February through September. The other sessions will be Saturday, March 12: “Building and Maintaining Your Soil’s Health”; Saturday, April 9: “Containers and Raised Bed, Growing Different Vegetables”; Saturday, May 14: “Weeds, Pests, and Disease; Crop Rotation; Companion Plants and Allies”; Saturday, June 4: “Permaculture; Composting; Cover Crops and Green Manures”; Saturday, August 20: “Extend Your Growing Season”: and Saturday, September 24: “Closing Your Garden, Assessing Your Success, Planning for Next Year.”
